Ibom Open 2024 Golf Tournament Tees Off in Uyo

All is set for the tee off of Ibom Open golf tournament in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital.


Ibom Open is an annual international golf tournament hosted by the IBOM golf club domiciled in IBOM Hotels and Golf Resort Uyo.




The captain of Ibom  Golf and Country Resort Barr. Usenobong Akpabio said that 172 Golfers are already in Uyo for the golf tournament scheduled to hold at Ibom Golf Resort  located in Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort ,Uyo Akwa Ibom state capital . 


Speaking during a press conference to declare the tournament opened in Uyo  on Friday, Usenobong said the  event tagged "Ibom Open 2024" was suspended at the wake of covid 19 pandemic . 


He listed categories of participants as 0-9 , 10-15 , 16- 22, 23-26, veterans , super veterans and ladies respectively. 


He also mentioned sponsors of the tournament as Urban/kraft, Ship Africa ,Joyfame Integrated Ltd , Equitorial Park , Papi Printing, Pepsi and  Ibom Hotel among others . 


Usenobong explained that Ibom Golf and Country Resort has the best facility in West Africa to host the tournament. 


" Ibom Golf and Country has standard facilities including a five star hotel in West Africa . Every weekend more more Golfers come to Akwa Ibom to play Golf. 



"We are in Ibom Golf and Country Club  and we are getting set for one of the most exciting Golf tomorrow in this part of the world.

time past and we use to have in the form "LM open" at the time it was Le Meridien Hotel here


" It use to be the game that every Golfer within and out outside the country look forward to playing 

 

Infact , at a point , it was " L m Open 1&2* but  when Le Meridien left and covid 19 set in , a lot of things went underground. As a Club we are to do rebirth of Ibom Club and I am happy the way I'm seeing this birth may give birth to twins . 


He disclosed that the event will be an epic show with many undisclosed trophies to be won . 


" We are getting ready for epic show tomorrow . The games start by 6:30 am and we are having presentations of trophies and Dinner by 6 pm here in the club. 


" On Sunday , we have another Show that ww call OPM  festival of jamming and most of the  people that are coming are because they know that there will be festival of jamming . 



" Ibom Open 2024 is going to be a good one with former governors of Kogi, Cross River , Kano and other states including former senators , captain of industries among others. 


" This event under one week was over subscribed and we want to apologize to those who would have wanted be here ," he said.


With the resumption of the annual tournament, the organizers promise that all things being equal, there shall be no other break nor interruption to the tournament as experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
